GREENFLAG has advised Veolia Umweltservice GmbH on the takeover of Hofmann Group.
With this acquisition, which encompasses about 30 operative sites with over 1,000 employees as well as a many German and foreign subsidiaries, Veolia will expand its geographic reach in the German waste management market. It is Veolia’s biggest acquisition in the waste management market in Germany since the takeover of the SULO-Group in 2007, on which GREENFLAG-Partner Dr. Frank Evers was also the leading legal counsel.
Signed in early 2023, the transaction was subject to approval by the competent merger control authorities which was obtained in February 2024 after completion of a disposal transaction.

About Hofmann Group
Founded more than 80 years ago, the Hofmann Group is a medium-sized, owner-managed comapany which provides waste management services in the federal state of Bavaria. The group has around 30 locations with waste processing facilities for various material fractions and is active in all segments of waste management: take-back systems, municipal services, collection of hazardous waste as well as commercial and industrial waste.
The family-owned business was managed in third generation by Mr Jürgen Hofmann and other members of the Hofmann family.
