The corporate/M&A boutique GREENFLAG launches in Hamburg on 1 January.
The founders Dr Frank Evers, Paul Caesar Rode and Anna-Yasmin Theißen are a well-established M&A team and most recently worked at GÖRG. They regularly advise strategists, financial investors, family entrepreneurs and start-up founders on M&A transactions and corporate law issues; in 2023, for example, they advised Veolia Umweltservice on the acquisition of the Hofmann Group and the founders of Billbee on their exit to the PE fund Bregal Unternehmerkapital.
Rode and Evers have known each other for almost twenty years from their time together at White & Case. Together with the experienced M&A partner Theißen and reinforced by associate Inken Emmerich, they want to focus on classic mid-market M&A, PE and VC transactions.
The team line-up is unusual for a spin-off in the corporate/M&A sector, not only because the founding team spans three generations and thus combines a fresh and dynamic spirit with decades of experience. It is also 50% female.
Paul Rode: "This is no coincidence. On the contrary: it was important to us to have a balanced team right from the start. Sadly, corporate/M&A is still a male-dominated field in both boutiques and big firms. In many areas, women have to perform significantly better than men in order to be recognised as equals. This seems to be doubly true for female colleagues in the corporate/M&A business. It will not be the case at GREENFLAG."
GREENFLAG also wants to set standards in terms of sustainability.
Anna-Yasmin Theißen: "We want to make our contribution to a future worth living. Not out of fashion, but out of conviction. As a boutique, we have the opportunity to take different paths that are difficult to do in a large law firm. This also suits our clients, many of whom are themselves pioneers when it comes to ESG topics."
